The city of Murcia

Murcia is a capital city of the municipality and the province of the same name and the community of the region of Murcia. It´s localized in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula on the banks of the River Segura. With 442.203 habitants, Murcia occupies the 7th placed on the list of municipalities in Spain by population.

It is an important city of services dominated the tertiary sector thanks to its famous and fertile Orchard. The industries most important are food, textiles, chemistry, for distillation and the manufacture of furniture and building materials.

Murcia is also a major centre of great University tradition since the first University was founded in 1272. It is currently home to two universities, the public University of Murcia and the private UCAM, which attract around 50,000 students to the municipality.  Its historic heritage, highlight its the Cathedral, with a Baroque outside and Gothic interior.
